Village Trekking

Swiss Family Treks & Expedition is proud to be your host for all your travels. One new and exciting trek option that is emerging as popular option is village trekking. Imagine combining the enjoyment of walking through beautiful scenery, and having a total cultural immersion experience all at the same time! For this program we will guide you to unspoiled villages where you spend a few days living with the local people and being treated as honored family guests. While staying with a local family you will enjoy comfortable accommodation, delicious local food and hospitality that will remain with you for a lifetime. Maybe you will learn how to make a local dish? Or see first-hand how local women make their exquisite handicrafts. There will also be time to explore the countryside and see the stunning scenery these villagers enjoy year around. Many of these villages are close to unspoiled natural areas where wildlife may be seen undisturbed. Often these villages are themselves located in national parks. The traditional culture of the different ethnic groups is a highlight of all village visits. These warm and friendly people are always ready to share and perform their music and dance giving you an insight into their culture.

Village tourism is an emerging concept that Swiss Family Treks and Expedition is excited to share with you. Since this is fairly new to the tourism industry, you will have the privilege and we will have the honor to expose you to a new way to experience the rich cultural heritage of Nepal. The backbone of the adventure tourism market in Nepal will always be the trekking, rafting, mountaineering and jungle safaris, but now is the time to take advantage of this new activity before it also becomes a well-worn tourist option.  All village locations are carefully picked for their distinct cultural character. We choose places that offer outstanding views mixed with locals who are excited to share their local traditions and take pride in their cultures and customs. We also work closely with the local families to ensure clean and comfortable accommodations. You will have the opportunity to view daily life as it goes on normally, and you can choose your level on participation, but we would hope you are ready to “dive-in”! And when you stay with your host family be prepared to feel like part of the family. Another way we work closely with the host families is to ensure they have clean kitchen and cooking practices. We understand that hygiene is essential and that getting sick is just not an option for any visitor so we work hard to make sure it is safe for all who visit. The local cuisine is as unique as the people, and it’s hard to replicate elsewhere. This will be an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you!   One of the biggest impacts that this cross-culture experience presents is the chance to affect the local economy in an immediate way. You will know the people who are directly benefitting from the money you spend for this program. This can help to preserve their rich cultural heritage and allow locals to continue their way of life. Village Trekking are normally conducted in Sirubari Village, Bandipur Village, Kakani Village, Chepang Village, Ghale Gaun Village, Gorkha Village, Dhading Village, Lumbini Village and Balthali Village. We are operating all above village tours in Nepal with our experienced guides.
